Kamakshi Saxena started her career as a dancer with The Danceworx performing arts company, New Delhi, India. Since then her talent, versatility and passion have taken her across India and to the United States, where she studied dance at The Ailey School.
She has performed in New York with companies like Surati for Performing Arts, 49th parallel dance company, Nathan Trice Rituals and Sandra Kramerova and Artists. In India, she choreographed and performed for Bollywood movies like Rockstar, Aisha, No Smoking and U, me aur Hum. Her creative mind also led her to choreograph various workshops at The Danceworx, New Delhi and school and college shows.
Kamakshi has also trained in styles like jazz, modern jazz, contemporary, Horton, Graham and classical ballet. As a performer, she performed professionally with The Danceworx Repertoire like The Chrysalis Project, About Nothing, International Film Festival Of India, opening ceremony, Tribute to R.D. Burman, musical concert with Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy, Commonwealth Games XVIII Queen's Baton Relay. She was also the lead dancer for Salaam India, directed by Lushin Dubey, choreographed by Ashley Lobo, which toured all over India and USA.
Apart from discovering new movement Kamakshi has taught dance forms like Jazz, lyrical jazz, contemporary and bollywood to students of varying levels from beginners to intermediate with the Danceworx performing arts academy, India. She is also visiting faculty member for an upcoming dance company in India, Jump United. Currently she is a jazz/bollywood instructor for Surati for Performings Arts.
As a dancer Kamakshi is constantly striving to get better results and is passionate about performing and spreading the language of dance.
