Sarah
Sarah Bailkin

Sarah is very excited to be apart of Surati.  Sarah is from the SF Bay Area and attends Marymount Manhattan College.  She is expected to graduate in Spring 2018 with a B.A. in Theatre Arts, with a concentration in Performing, and a minor in Musical Theatre. In 2015, Sarah was selected to attend American Conservatory Theatre’s Summer Training Congress in acting. She is a alumni of Marin Ballet and a member of Regional Dance of America and the National Honors Society for Dance Arts.

Vidya
Vidhya Dinesh

Vidhya, is a professional Bharatnatyam dancer who shares her talents and influences others by offering formal instruction in dance. Acclaimed for her thought- provoking and mature choreography, her nritya bears the authentic stamp of classic Kalakshetra and her abhinaya, though subtle, is highly spontaneous, expressive and convincing.
Vidhya began her training in Bharatnatyam at the early age of 5, under the guidance of Guru Smt. B. Uma Maheshwari, blossomed as a gifted dancer and obtained considerable proficiency in the art.

Elena
Elena Notkina

Elena Notkina is a Russian born dancer and choreographer. Elena has graduated from The St. Petersburg State Conservatory (Russia) with Master's Degree in Choreography. She has been performing with different dance companies and "Karambol" State Musical Theatre.

Her credits include the following musicals: Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Thumbelina, Mary Poppins among others. Throughout her career she has choreographed numerous dance miniatures as well as musicals, drama shows and gala events Shows choreographed by her participated in festivals. Among them: "Ostrovsky in Ostrovsky's Home" Festival (Moscow, Russia), Window to the East Festival (Warsaw, Poland) and others. Moreover, Elena's own choreography works received awards such as Fyodor Lopukhov Choreography Competition (Special Prize) and Youth Festival of Modern Choreography "Runway" (1st prize). Elena currently lives in NYC.

Irene
Irene Sivianes

Born in Sevilla in 1988, later moved to Madrid, and is currently living in New York. She started studying dance at the age of 7 at the Conservatory of Sevilla under prominent flamenco maestros such as Matilde Coral. She graduated with a degree in Classic Dance Pedagogy at ISD Alicia Alonso in 2011, and further extended her studies at Contemporary Martha Graham School in NYC. 

She has performed with many different companies including Ballet de Cámara Alicia Alonso (Spain) from 2007 to 2011. Most recently, she has been the main dancer/choreographer at various remarkable spots in New York like Poisson Rouge, Instituto Cervantes “Noche from Spain”, Hispanic Society of America and Martha Graham “Essence”. She’s also danced on international festivals and tours,  such as the SEA’s  “Midsummer Night’s of dream” (winner of 6 Awards from ATI) in Puerto Rico, ICPNA’s “Flamenco y Punto 2017” in Peru and the South American tour with Romero Group.

Kana Takahashi

Originally from Saitama, Japan, Kana Takahashi is a NY based actor/dancer. Her theatre credits include Liat in South Pacific (Midtown Arts Center and West Virginia Public Theatre),Miss Saigon , Hair , Oklahoma! , Six Strings Sonics , and The Magic Flute . Received her certificate of dance from the Ailey School. As a dancer, she has performed with John Cage CentennialFestival, ALDEN MOVES Dance Theater, Buglisi Dance Theatre, Ailey Citigroup Theater,MuSE, Azul Dance Theatre, among others. Paloma de Vega

Paloma was born in Madrid, Spain. She graduated from Real Conservatorio Profesional de danza Mari Emma, specialized in Spanish dance and flamenco in Spain. She has singing training with the coaches Jose Masegosa and Christos Alexandrou. She graduated from New York Film Academy in New York in the acting for film program.  She had a main part in the play “ Kiss a squid in “Marjorie S Deane Little Theatre” in Manhattan. She is a dancer in the dance company ”Surati for Performing Arts” in New York. She worked in the musical play “the Miracle of Christmas” as a dancer and singer. She worked in the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” in New York with “The World Voice Ensamble”. She acted in the short film “I am waiting here” directed by Mike Petrella for the “Oasis Short Film Screenings Festival”.

Alisha
Alisha Desai

Alisha Desai is a professional dancer, actor, singer, visual artist and choreographer. Since graduation from Sarah Lawrence with a concentration in Performing arts, she has made Brooklyn her home base. Currently she is a corecompany member of Surati for Performing Arts and Education, AATMA Performing Arts, and Ajna Dance Company. Notable theater projects include Hypokrit Theater company's Chokher Bali and The Death or Don Juan, a modern opera. She also has roles in the feature films Karma Road and Captured Hearts.

Reba Browne
Reba Browne

Born in Delhi, India; Reba Browne started as a dancer at a very young age. Her feet learnt the intricate nuances of kathak even before they learnt to run. She imbibed the magical language of movement and expression before she could spell. And her heart rejoiced in being a performer before it could dream and aspire.She trained in styles like jazz, modern jazz, contemporary, Horton and classical ballet.As a dancer Reba is constantly striving to get better results and is passionate about finding new opportunities to perform and spread the language of dance. Reba has always been loved by all for the zeal and passion she teaches with. With a huge pool of knowledge to share, her personality and her warmth inspires students and spectators alike. It isn't about how one dances, she believes in the sheer joy of dancing. It isn't the complexity of dance she targets, but the simplicity of each movement, flowing seamlessly to create magic.

Sahiba
Sahiba Ahluwalia

Originally from India, Sahiba is a New York based dancer.She started her dance training with The Danceworx performing arts in India, where she was trained in Jazz, Contemporary and Ballet. To further develop her skills. Sahiba moved to New York City to train at the prestigious. Peridance Capezio Center. Sahiba has been an integral part
of the Surati team since 2014. She also currently dances with Ajna and Aatma performing arts and has also been a part of NYC Bhangra team in the past.

Cinna Chandra

A graceful dancer gifted with a sense of rhythm. Strong ability to express emotions, portray characters and situations in any play utilizing movements, gestures and body language. She is a professionally trained singer as well; music is an integral part of her dance style. Understanding of various forms and genres comes naturally to her, which has enhanced the spectrum and versatility as a dancer.

She is an anchor in popular Malayalam TV Show “US Weekly Round Up” (Weekly show) broadcasts in Malayalam Channel Asianet


Rimli Roy

RIMLI ROY is an artiste, dancer and choreographer and the Founder-Artistic Director of Surati. Rimli received formal training in Odissi, Bharatnatyam and Manipuri under renowned gurus (masters) from India since she was four. Other than Classical dance forms, daringly innovative artiste Rimli, ventures outside the domain of conservative classical dance, experiments with various classical and folk dances, Tagore dance forms and has fused elements of modern, ballet, jazz, opera and musical theatre into the stage productions directed and choreographed by her globally for stage and television. Hailing from a family of artistes based in India, she is the recipient of grants from the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Rimli has been engaged in promoting Indian art and culture across the United States and beyond by means of stage performances, educational collaborations with various institutions (museums, schools, libraries) as well as teaching Indian classical music and dance for over two decades.

Her recent original production of the Indian Classic Epic Tale “The Ramayana” was critically acclaimed and combines Indian classical dance and music genres with international performing arts from around the world including opera, jazz and contemporary.

Notable performances: Rimli and the Surati touring performing arts company have performed recently at the United Nations, in New York City at The Lincoln Center, at Incredible India’s Annual Road Show (the Indian Ministry of Tourism), The World Financial Center Wintergarden, New York City Hall, The Indian Consulate, for The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (Indian Ministry of Textiles), in Washington D.C at The Kennedy Center and The Library of Congress, in St. Thomas at the University of the U.S Virgin Islands’ Reichhold Center in NJ at the Rutgers University, in Anchorage at the Alaska Performing Arts Center and at the Las Vegas Convention Center (NV).
